Belfast Bay Brewing
Belfast Bay Brewing Company, established in 1996 by Pat Mullen in Belfast, Maine, has become a notable name in the state's craft beer scene. The brewery gained acclaim with its flagship Lobster Ale, a smooth and approachable red ale inspired by the red ales popular in nearby Canadian provinces. Another standout is McGovern's Oatmeal Stout, developed by renowned brewer Dan McGovern, which earned a silver medal at the World Brewing Championships. Over the years, Belfast Bay Brewing has remained committed to producing high-quality beers that reflect the character and tradition of Maine's brewing heritage.

Belfast Bay and 1820 Brands
In 2022, Belfast Bay Brewing Company joined the 1820 Brands portfolio following its acquisition by Alan and Robin Lapoint, the owners of Geary Brewing Co. and 1820 Brewing. Having previously contract-brewed Belfast Bay's beers for two years, the Lapoints aimed to preserve the brewery's legacy while expanding its reach. Under their stewardship, Belfast Bay's iconic Lobster Ale and McGovern's Oatmeal Stout continue to be produced with the same dedication to quality, now benefiting from enhanced marketing and distribution efforts. This acquisition reflects 1820 Brands' commitment to honoring Maine's rich brewing heritage while fostering growth and innovation in the craft beer industry.
